Section B · What we do

Our Services

Six practice areas, one team. Each is described below with what we deliver and who it is for. Every service can be quoted through our online quote request, and most are available on a fixed monthly fee.

Accounting & Financial Statements

Reliable financial information is the foundation of every sound business decision — and of your relationship with SARS, the CIPC, your bank, your investors and, where applicable, your shareholders and regulators. We manage the full accounting cycle, from processing transactions to compiling annual financial statements under the reporting framework that applies to you — IFRS, IFRS for SMEs, GRAP or GAAP — and we can run your entire finance function if that is what your organisation needs.

What we deliver

  • Bookkeeping and monthly processing on Sage, QuickBooks or Xero
  • Monthly management accounts and cash-flow reporting
  • Financial plans, budgets and forecasts
  • Fixed-asset registers and depreciation schedules
  • Compilation of annual financial statements (IFRS, IFRS for SMEs, GRAP or GAAP)
  • Independent reviews of financial statements
  • Accounting officer reports for close corporations
  • Group consolidations and reporting packs for boards, audit committees and funders
  • Complete outsourced finance function, or support for an in-house finance team at month-end and year-end

Tax Services

As registered SARS tax practitioners we take responsibility for your tax compliance from registration to assessment, and we plan ahead so that you pay what is properly due and no more. When SARS raises a query, an audit or an assessment you disagree with, we represent you — with the technical grounding to argue your case.

What we deliver

  • Business tax: VAT, employees' tax (PAYE), income tax and dividends tax
  • VAT registration, VAT201 returns and periodic VAT reviews
  • Company and individual income tax returns and provisional tax
  • Tax planning for businesses, directors and individuals
  • SARS representation: verifications, audits, objections, appeals and payment arrangements
  • Tax clearance and compliance status
  • PBO approval and section 18A application / compliance assistance
  • Customs registration
  • Deceased estates

Payroll & PAYE

Payroll has to be right and on time, every pay period, or penalties and unhappy employees follow. MGB Accounting has run payroll for clients across a range of industries since the practice was founded in 2016. We process your payroll, meet every SARS, UIF and Compensation Fund deadline, and issue employees with professional, password-protected payslips.

What we deliver

  • Weekly, fortnightly or monthly payroll processing and secure payslip distribution
  • PAYE, UIF and SDL registration
  • Monthly EMP201 returns and interim and annual EMP501 reconciliations
  • IRP5 / IT3(a) employee tax certificates
  • UIF declarations and Compensation Fund (COIDA) returns
  • Payroll tax advice that optimises the position of both employer and employees
  • Payroll system setup and take-on from your existing records

Entity Registration & Compliance

Start with the right legal structure and keep its records up to date. We assist with private companies, non-profit companies, personal liability companies and co-operatives, as well as ongoing CIPC compliance for these entities and existing close corporations. NPO registration with the Department of Social Development is a separate service; SARS PBO and section 18A approvals are covered by our tax practice.

What we deliver

  • New private company (Pty Ltd), NPC and personal liability company (Inc.) registrations
  • Co-operative registration, director changes and constitution / annual compliance assistance
  • DSD NPO registration, updates and annual compliance
  • Director appointments, resignations and removals

Business Advisory & Management Consulting

Good numbers should lead to good decisions. We help owners, executives and boards plan, fund and grow their organisations with practical advice grounded in their actual financial position. The rigour is the same whether the client is an owner-managed business or a corporate group — only the scale of the engagement changes.

What we deliver

  • Business plans, funding proposals and cash-flow projections
  • Company profiles and tender documentation
  • Bank revenue confirmation letters based on statements for the bank’s required period
  • Logo, letterhead and services poster / flyer design: three options and one free revision to the chosen option; colours and design details agreed after quote acceptance
  • Enterprise and supplier development programmes
  • COIDA letters of good standing, CIDB and CSD registrations
  • Due diligence on prospective clients, partners and acquisitions
  • Accounting software selection and setup, and supply of computers and IT equipment

Due Diligence & Risk Management

Before you acquire a business, take on a partner or commit capital, you need an independent view of what you are getting into. Our due diligence examines the financial statements, the assets and liabilities, the market and the risks — strategic, operational, compliance and legal. And because identifying risks is only useful if something is done about them, we also review the internal controls that keep them at an acceptable level.

What we deliver

  • Analysis of financial statements and verification of assets and liabilities
  • Market evaluation and the outlook for sales, profitability and cash flow
  • Evaluation of strategic, operational, compliance and legal risks
  • Employee skills matrix and work profiles
  • Third-party confirmations from customers, suppliers and banks
  • Internal audit and control reviews measured against identified risks
  • Ongoing risk management support (IRMSA-registered)
